A starfire of that period with two Franzes would be pretty much a T-100D, right? (except for some cosmetic differences)

Walter,

I believe so. But it just occurs to me that they might never have put P90s in the starfires. Also, I think the starfires might never have been maple before 1964.

That would be a question for the oracle from The Netherlands! My '61 is a halfway decent refin, and the chips on the back reveal light-ish colored wood (maple?) - but then I don't really know what unstained mahogany looks like.

Juan,

Thems ain't P90s, but they are very rare. Like a dynasonic without adjustment poles.

Walter,

If you look inside the guitar at the unfinished back, you can see if its maple or mahogany, right?

Well, the inside looks like maple to me, unless it's very light, very un-figured mahogany.

Those have come up before, and I really don't think they're DeArmonds - don't know if they're Guild or Hagstrom, but they're on both brands, also come with a chrome top.

Walter,

Unless I'm mistaken (and I usually am) the old testament mentions these as DeArmond. I used to have a pair (of these pickups) and to my ears they sounded a bit warmer than dynasonics and less twangy--as opposed to Mickey Mouse pups, which sound thinner and twangier to me.

I recall reading that some of the original Starfires had laminated maple tops. This would mean there would exist maple-topped SFs pre-1964, prolly 1961 at the earliest?
