Letting this go to move on to gear that i will play more frequently. Dont get me wrong, this is probably the best playing guitar i ever owned, let alone the coolest, oldest, and Guildiest, but i am not one to take this guitar to gigs, constantly worrying if i am going to mark it up, drop it, have some one grab and run, etc. i know that guitars were meant to be played and not babied, but this just gets babied, and needs to go to someone that can either afford to keep it in a locked climate controlled room under guard, or play it till it drops as it was meant.
Serial number puts it at 1956. I am not the Guild expert, which is why i joined this forum to learn. I will answer any questions quickly and honestly, but some i do not know the definitive answer to. It’s my understanding that the tailpice is original, Even though most came with the gold harp tail piece, and gold knobs and tuners. But this one being made off of the route that the 2 pickup versions were made, could have been made this way to order, or so i have been told. That being said, i dont know. Was told that if you remove the tail piece you can tell original or not, i have not and am not willing to do so as i will screw something up. There does not seem to be any difference in the finish around the tailpiece, had there been a larger size one there originally. The tuners look ancient but in the photos it’s hard for me to tell if the back line up perfectly, either way they are ancient, yet seem to work flawlessly. The binding has a spot or two where it’s seperating, but still on Shown in photos. Original pickguard is included, it’s got this bend to it that makes it difficult to put back on. Previous owner made one that fits, its included, i just dont have it on as i like the look of the body top.
Most important (to me at least) is that it plays very easily, and the bridge has room to go up or down, but the action is currently low and it flies! The pickup is Franz, to me its a beefy P90 without the P90 stuff some folks dont like.
The case fits, but i do not believe it’s original, old, beat up, but secure.
I have put some photos here, and will take more today and tomorrow, and will send a photo of any part you want, just ask. If i was looking at this i would want to see all the dings and what is going on, and not just read an add that says it’s excellent and ready to go. im not as old as this, and i look pretty bad unless you touch up my photos. So keep in mind it’s over 70.
I reply quickly. I am not pulling the wool over any bodies eyes, as i dont know enough to do so and thats not how i work. I would be happy to speak on the phone, text, and even skype to someone thats interested.
It’s my understaning not many of those were made with the one middle pickup, and that perhaps a dozen or so have been accounted for to date. The position of the pickup is unique and works for me. Not too much bass sound from the neck, and not an overwhelming thinner sounding bright bridge pickup. Either way it will cause your tube amp to break up when you dig in, or purr when you dont.
As none are for sale anywhere with this set up, and there are no previous sales, i priced by what other 56 models are listed at, minus whether or not all the parts are original, id like to think for the most part they are making this more unique, but i dont know. You need to add in shipping, and if you email me a shipping label then you know you get the service you paid for, i can do UPS, FEDEX or USPS, all are about a half hour to 45 minutes from me, but i will pack it well, and take it their Quickly. I can also get a qoute if you send me an address.
There is probably a little room to wiggle, but i am not selling to make a house payment, so dont have to sell, but would like to move it on so i can stop worrying that im not playing a cool 1956(Elvis Ed Sullivan year?) guitar. The photo with the painters tape was taken when i was cleaning the guitar, thats why no strings. The finish still has shine. Hoping a Guild liking person is interested before i place this on reverb and someone buys it to put hello kitty stickers on it.
Please PM me any questions, i am quick to reply.
