Hello all,

This is one amazing sounding bucket-list guitar for me, that I really wanted to gel with, put a ton of money into restoration, but ultimately can't get along with the 25.5" scale and rather chunky neck. My hands are spoiled by the shorter scale and slim nut of my Rickenbacker 330, so ideally I am hoping to find some kind of trade for an interesting guitar with a 24.75" scale. I'm in no big rush on this and, considering the rarity and value of this guitar, I would ideally like to find a local deal of some kind (general Orlando/Daytona/Ocala area). Will consider shipping, but might like to hold out a little while before going that route.

The work I've had done by pro luthier shops in Orlando is the following: loose top braces reglued, neck reset, full refret, new nut, and set-up. In other words, all the necessary things to make this a killer player grade instrument. In total, I have just over $3k invested in it and these will often sell for more than that. However, given the finish wear, the fact that it does not come with original case or pickguard, the body binding has become brittle, the headstock veneer is starting to lift a tiny bit at one corner, and there is a thin hairline crack at the output jack, I would set the trade/sale value around $2000. The original Melita bridge is included in the case, though it looks like there is a bit of a dip in the center. I'm not sure if that can be corrected, but I honestly love this Graphtech ResoMax replacement and do think it's a superior design from a player's perspective.

I'm mostly interested in trade offers for thinline hollowbody and semi-hollow USA Guild, Gibson, and Rickenbacker guitars, but open to other thinlines, semis, solid-bodies and possibly basses and acoustics too.

The 6191 is a pretty rare piece of history in the realm of USA instruments. The acoustic tone alone is magnificent, but as many of you know, these 50's DynaSonic pickups sound incredible and have attained a legendary status of their own (since later models, starting in the 60's were a re-vamped design and aren't quite the same). If nobody shows interest, that is okay by me and I don't mind holding on to it, but I figured it might be appropriate to get this one into the hands of a player who likes the 25.5" scale and chunky profile! After all, I put all this time and money into having it restored specifically so it would be played again!

Here are a few photos, but of course, I'm happy to take more for interested parties.

Nice guitar...but I'm a little stumped about the scale...? I've always thought/heard they were 24 1/2" scale like a 6120, and the larger 17" hollowbodies (falcon, Club,...) were 251/2"?

Hello! When I looked it up initially, I had read that it should be 25.5" and that's exactly what it feels like to my hands. Here's a quick photo I just took, during a quick bit of downtime:

I own a ‘56 Electromatic, and those original Dynasonics are just fantastic.

This is the golden age for Gretsch (along with their modern Japanese and Korean reproductions).
