Exceptionally rare all mahogany Guild M -30. Lower bout measures 15”. Nut width is 1 11/16. Repaired cracks on top and back, all of which are stable. Otherwise, the guitar is in great vintage condition. Plays very well with low action and straight neck. Love this guitar but need to fund another project.

1953 Guild M-30

Hello wclink,

You probably have an M-30 with a 'Ghost' label and a serial number very close to # 1500.

Guild M-20s and M-30s with 4 digit serial numbers do not fit in the regular range of Guild serial numbers. When looking at the serial number, you would think you have an early '50s instrument, but actually it was made during 1959.

Sincerely,

Hans Moust

Hi Hans,
Thanks for clearing up this little anomaly with Guild serial numbers. The serial number on this M-30 is 1468 with a ghost label. I've been watching the guitar over on UMGF. I was hoping you might enter the discussion at some point. One thing is still unclear to me: the serial number is not stamped on the back of the head stock. I thought all Guilds after 1956 had the serial number stamped on the back of the head stock? I guess not.
