Hello everyone, this is my first post on this wonderful forum.

I have an old Guild F20 or F30 in my possession and I was wondering if someone could tell me a bit about its history, ie: where it was made, the exact year, etc. I have been told it might have been made in New York. The tricky thing about my guitar is that the paper in the soundhole was ripped out. Also, from the research that I have made, the guitar appears to have been made in 1959 but I am not 100% sure (the serial # is 9XXX). I have recently gotten her serviced by a professional luthier and he was quite pleased that, albeit being an old guitar, the neck is as straight as an arrow and it contains all its original parts.

Here she is:

Hi The Idiot and welcome; that's certainly one very fine guitar ... whichever it is! J

Hello Mr. Idiot,

Welcome! The guitar you have is definitely a 1959 F-30, made in Hoboken, NJ.

Sincerely,

Thank you, I figured it was made in 59'.

Are these guitars desirable in the used market? I don't plan on selling it but was wondering just for my own curiosity.

I think the short answer is, "Yes."

I like the handle: The Idiot. I played in an Irish band for a few years called The Omadhauns.
Omadhaun is the Gaelic word for idiot.

Welcome abord.
Post well. Post often.
