I don’t have any issues with noise on the two Starfires I have, just wondering if they can be improved. Interested to hear how your pickup change goes.

Just wondering if anyone has changed the pickup/wiring in one of these yet? And if so if it made much of a difference?

The newer Starfire 1’s are a bit more limiting. The strings winding length has to between 34 1/4” and 35 1/2”. Anything shorter the E string silk is before/on the nut. Anything longer the G wraps around the tuner.

It depends on the brand.

Thanks guys. I didn't really want to mess about with brand new strings but I guess a razor to the silks is the easiest solution.

Hello all. I was wondering if anyone here had replaced the tailpiece on their new Starfire 1 bass? I love the basses, but the stock tailpiece limits the string options available. I'm a flatwound string user, so ideally I don't want to wrap strings around the tuning pegs. Thomastik short scale...

Just to update, I liked it so much better the bass is now with a luthier getting binding added.

Having no patience, I got some Uni Posca Ivory Pens today and had a go. Only the first layer, but I’m pleased with how it’s looking.

I wish the f holes on my Starfire bass stood out a bit more, like they do on some Gretsch’s. Has anyone tried using a cream paint pen or similar on the inside edges to make them more prominent?

I'm tempted to put some cream pickup covers on my walnut Starfire 1. Does anyone know if standard sized Fender P Bass covers fit?
