Starfire III, LB 1 or Dynasonics?

From top to bottom: Seymour Duncan, 60s DeArmond with Martin cover, TV Jones. The TV pickup is from 2014. I want to try the Gabojos at some point if I can get them in a DeArmond mount. The Gemini tele pickup looks good as well.

    1957 sunburst X500 Guitar

Thanks for the knowledge. If anyone needs low profile screws, the screw size is #3-48 x 1/4".

    1980s DE500 Binding Questions

The binding on the body and headstock is also amber, but it shows no signs of shrinking or cracking as far as I can tell. The problem is only with the neck binding. The neck binding break and finish crazing may be from temperature change as someone mentioned above. I may go check it out again...

    1980s DE500 Binding Questions

Thanks @HeyMikey. Does the break in the binding trouble you at all? The 80s don't seem like a long time ago to me, but it is a 40 year old guitar.

    1980s DE500 Binding Questions

I finally got to go take a look at a 1983 (?) DE500 that has been listed on my local Craigslist for over a month. The link is below. The neck binding has one break, and all of the neck binding has shrunk a little bit. All of the binding on the guitar except a small portion near the neck joint...

    '80s DE-500 Reissues

It was my mistake. I missed the quote that you included in your post. Sorry to hear that the DeArmonds are gone.

    '80s DE-500 Reissues

Here's the one near me. I saw it in the online offerings forum here first. https://easternshore.craigslist.org/msg/d/easton-guild-de-500-bld-guitar-1983/7658765868.html There's one for a similar price on Reverb as well. https://reverb.com/item/63464341-1986-guild-de-500-blonde

    '80s DE-500 Reissues

Best of luck with it. I think the earliest I can take a look is sometime next week, and I absolutely don't need it.

    '80s DE-500 Reissues

There's one of these reissues for sale on Craigslist not too far from me. I should be downsizing to get ready for retirement, but I may go take a look at it. I'm wondering if it has a very thin neck like the current Gretsch Duane model. Here's a pick of some Martin DeArmonds in my Duo Jet.

Tesla - How to handle when broken - only in Finland 😂

I'm just an electrician and not an electrical engineer. Solid state lithium ion batteries are getting a lot of buzz as the next step in battery technology. Solid Power and Quantumscape are the two biggest names. Is this old news? Is it even news...

    Modified NS X175 almost done!

Love the twang. Did you relocate the bridge pickup closer to the bridge? It looks and sounds like it.

UPDATE (12/06/2021) - Converting a Starfire II to III

Congratulations. I'm glad a member here got it instead of one of the parts resellers.

Edited Thread Just bought a 2001 X500T. Would a case for a new Newark X175 fit it?

The acoustic case has more wiggle room than that I believe, but it has less wiggle room than every vintage case that I own. It's relative I guess. If I ever finally and completely get the stink out of the stock case, then I will sell the acoustic case. Best of luck.

The top of the case is arched.I bought the premium case only because the less expensive deluxe case was hard to find at the time. This is the one that I have: https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/0050630001--guild-usa-premium-humidified-archtop-wood-case-jumbo

Edited Thread Just bought a 2001 X500T. Would a case for a new Newark X175 fit it?

I measured the jumbo acoustic case, and it is 1/2" wider than the original case at the waist and at the lower bout. The fit is not as snug as the stock case. There is tiny amount of room for movement.

I think the Guild Jumbo Acoustic case is the right size. Measure twice of course.

    What year is my X-175?

The finish is in great shape. Some of the binding is shrunken and loose. There's a little damage under the bridge from the tuner posts being screwed into the top. The Franz pickups are wonderful. It's a keeper.
