News to me too. Called Guild when I was looking for a case for the ol' D-212 and they said that they don't make a Dread 12 anymore and haven;t for a while.

It is my D-212 for sure.

Original owner of an 81 D212-SB and every time I take it for the group guitar lesson, people ask to play it. I have always loved the sound of that guitar and even though I may pick up another from time to time, that is and always will be the guitar I go back to. Enjoy it!

Knowledgeable people know Guilds. I took my first lesson at a well known Chicago folk school not long ago and brought my D-212 to play. We were in an auditorium tuning up and several instructors came over and asked if they could play it, how old it was and several questions about it. There...

I think that it is whatever fits your ear. I have a d25 and a d212 both of which I fingerpick. Both sound great to me. I use mostly flesh with a little nail...

Thanks Chicago... Looked at the pictures on ebay - no crack evident. Contacted seller and he confirmed no crack - looks like ups issue. he is handling the claim.. :D

Yes it does need some more clean up and there is a small crack (nothing too bad) on the side. Overall it sounds great and plays pretty well - want to lower the action a touch. Any recommendations to take it to?
