    NBD - Need Expert Input

I think you nailed it, Mellow One. Many players, myself included, like to use a high pass filter, especially when using a "lower power" tube amp like a Showman or 100 watt whatever. Why make the amp labor to put out low frequencies no one can hear? My first rig was a white Bassman with the...

    bridge replacement for Starfire

I was pondering buying one of those Maderas to put the Alembic stuff into when I was having trouble finding a beater JS-II. Thankfully I did.

    bridge replacement for Starfire

Quite a few years ago I recounted how a guitarist picked up my JS-II at a reunion gig and proceeded to play some slap & pop. A wood saddle skittered across the stage. Thankfully I was there watching and saw where it went. Lesson = don't go to the can, bar or to talk up a groupie when someone...

    Starfire bridge ?

I'm guessing you are asking someone else with a Starfire. But it works fine on my JS.

    Guild mystery bass.

If you plan to sell it, I'd agree with SFIV1967. Don't waste too much effort on finding the screw. In fact, it's already no longer a "collector's bass" so philistines like me would probably jam in whatever worked to hold it in place. But then, I never got either the collector's item or "road...

Waveforms and switch positions M 85

Audacity: I'm going to look at it because I have a mess of files in Cakewalk's old format. The new Cakewalk will accept the files as midi, but the instrument designations are gone. The issue is how to map over synth voice settings on older but quite popular EMU-Proteus and the Korg M-l. I...

    No JS-II coming in 2024….

Missed this thread. The size and form of the JS models always suited me more than the Starfire profile. I'll happily join a posse but I don't need a third one.

    1990s DeArmond Jetstar bass help

My view of this is the result of countless frustrating hours locating and remedying cold solders. But that was mostly in P2P radios and amps I was building as a teen.

    1990s DeArmond Jetstar bass help

Impatient soldering is an affliction to be avoided. Get everything really hot. I always rushed things and then had to waste three times as long to reheat and remove excess solder which is MUCH more difficult to do well than just doing it right the first time. Especially on a pcb. Tomorrow I...

    Guild m85 ii (1973) opinions

Some folks like the depth profile of the MkII over the cigar box semihollow earlier model. Including our dear departed Mgod.

Ah, you snowflake youngsters can't handle and welcome a nice bit of clank and buzz. Calls to mind that famous quip about listening to Chuck Rainey's isolated tracks. Otherwise~~ good advice on using tension versus a neck reset.

    '76 JS-2 Pots Replacement

Wow. The Mellow German or I may well have a set from when we "upgraded" our rigs. Or two. Let me check. But for spanking new, I'll step aside and let the youngsters speak up.

    Thunderbass

I had the matching 2x15" cab but rarely set it up as directed. It just felt too unbalanced and precarious. Especially since the cab was pretty thin depth-wise. We were much closer to the MC-5 than Fairport Convention.

    Thunderbass

I was pushed an ad from Guitar Center for a Thunderbass head. Like I played it high school, with that goofy robot-head mounting handle on the bottom.

    Looking Sharp

Hey Double Dog, I think you saw it when you visited here some years back. It's a Sunn Colesium cab reloaded with four 75 watt Celestion 12" speakers. Enough capacity to handle the Showman or a 2000s. In the day I believed that one of those atop a 1x18" cab was sonic heaven. Better with two...

Oh, Herr Mellow, did you recognize the little amp on top of the Showman head? It's a TAURUS Vandal. (A prototype.) A German amp made in Poland! Uniting two great countries!
