Sold Newark Street Starfire III with TV Jones T'Armonds $925

Hi, This is a Newark Street Starfire III from a few years ago. The T'Armonds were installed by SF Guitarworks here in San Francisco. There are rubber spacers to cover a slight gap that you can see in the pictures. It looks very good, but not seamless. I was using this on gigs instead of my...

    NS X-175 discontinued

I kind of like the gray. I feel like they took the long way around and arrived back at the Gretsch Electromatics from the early 00s. Import hollowbodies with licensed Bigsbys, underpowered Dyna/DeArmonds (in the wrong place) and fancy colors.

Getting back to the NS X-350 ...

That's a terrible way to do it. That's too bad.

Getting back to the NS X-350 ...

I don't know how Guild does it, but most "pinned" bridges can simply be picked straight up off the guitar.

    more new Newark Street guitars!

I really want to like the new "Dynasonic" models, but there are just too many little details that can't be changed that I don't like. By the time I changed the things than can be changed, it would be a pretty expensive guitar.

    Mahogany X-500

I cannot express with mere words how much I love that guitar. :)

    Beautiful Blonde.....Rockabilly

The bridge pickup is in the right place. :)

    NS X-175 Manhattan Special Blonde

Beautiful. Have they changed the tint on the blonde finish? I had as early NS from 2013, and the blonde finish was a bit goofy looking. This one looks much better.

    more new Newark Street guitars!

Yes, I had DeArmonds put it, but I didn't do it myself. They made spacers to cover the little bit of a gap.

    more new Newark Street guitars!

Aren't the Franzes a little far back from the bridge, as well? I actually did this on a Starfire with great results. Unlike the Franzes, there aren't any visible cover mounting holes. I used to have a blonde Newark X-175, but I can't remember what's going on underneath the bridge pickup. Is...

    more new Newark Street guitars!

I hate to beat a dead horse, but I just can’t get past the location of the bridge pickup. A blonde X-175 with DeArmonds is sort of a holy grail guitar for me, so I’ll just say it’s very disappointing.

    Three DeArmonds look great

A reissue with two pickups and the bridge pickup in the right place would be super cool.

    New pickups for a Duane

Mini-hums were so wrong for that model, IMO. I seem to recall Duane's wife mentioning on another forum a while back that Guild switched the pickups in his model without telling/asking him.

    NGD: NS X175 Manhattan Special

^^^ You are not in the minority. I think that the DeArmond-equipped Electromatics from Gretsch from a few years ago were also like this. Strangely, I believe the one responsible for this is the same person who did an enormous amount of good for both Guild and Gretsch, and co-invented some...

    NGD: NS X175 Manhattan Special

That sounds great, Walter! It's not quite as smurfy looking as the Photoshop promo pictures. Your demo reminded me that a couple of your licks in "Busy Soon" have driven crazy trying to get right. I never have.
