Some of you might remember this F-50 that was on ShopGoodwill in November. Goodwill is always a big gamble in my opinion, but sometimes I get bored enough to take that gamble, and this time I won the bid. After I had my luthier evaluate it he called me and said it might need a neck reset, but he can't say for sure until he glues the lifted bridge down and does a total refret! OMG, what did I get myself in to? I gave him the go-ahead, and he called yesterday to tell me it was done, "and turned out PERFECT", with no neck reset necessary. When I picked it up this morning he said he played it for an hour today, and in his words "I'm sorry to see it go, this guitar is special."
It's got a few character flaws, probably from a life on the road since 1979. An Italian duty sticker on the case gives a hint to where its been. The finish has a few big cracks, nothing serious, just the finish, and the original Guild sticker is missing, probably due to some humid conditions. But it now plays and sounds great, as good as new or better.
I've got $1800 total into this guitar right now (with case), so I'm feeling lucky, blessed and happy. Like the saying goes, "sometimes even a blind squirrel finds a nut!".
