Posted by Jefferson Airplane on Facebook. Paul Kantner with a Guild 12. The point of the post was the clutter but LTGers know better. :)

Is that a person on the left under the covers? A woman? a mannequin?

Looking just at the image if you told me that was Grace Slick on the left, I couldn't argue. Some of the Facebook comments suggest that perhaps Paul and Grace's daughter, China, is in the picture. I couldn't find any info that dated the image although I didn't try Getty which might be the source.

I did find more Guild 12 pictures, though.

The "bed photo" is a Getty image. When I searched for it before I failed to realize there were multiple pages of search results.

Getty says "Paul Kantner sits up in bed and plays an acoustic guitar, his daughter China beside him, in a rather messy bedroom.'

Robert Ressmeyer is credited. He started photographing Jefferson Airplane etc. in 1975

I think we're ok posting here because Getty's policy says "Newspapers and magazines (except for covers), editorial broadcasts, documentaries, non-commercial websites, blogs and social media posts illustrating matters of public interest" and LTG is non-commercial, for sure.

Also note that there are enough Getty images with Paul and a Guild 12 that someone could gather them a new thread and discuss the ID of the guitar. But that won't be me.

No need for that, just read post # 1143 !

Ralf

I didn't read #1143 as a definitive ID and I wasn't sure all the images of Kantner with a Guild 12 were the same instrument. My memory was that Kantner had a F-512 and if he had a F-612 I would hope I remembered more conversation about it given the scarcity of the F-612.

The larger second and third pictures in your post are the same guitars (exact same "fingerprints" in pickguard material), just many years apart. The small first one is a F-512 with block inlays.

What 12 string is David Gilmore from Pink Floyd playing? He’s doing the intro to “Wish You Were Here” from 1975 during a recent interview. It’s sounds so awesome I’m interest in checking on one. Heres the link

On the video it looks as the sides are blonde where not sprayed w colour - therefore more like SB F412

I thought the lower sides looked lighter in color, but might they be reflecting light from the white sofa?

The upper sides looked darker to me, which made me think it might be rosewood, and an F-512.

PreacherBob, you should probably try to play both an F-412 (maple back/sides; but renamed "F-512 maple" by the Oxnard factory 🙃) & F-512 (rosewood back/sides), and see which you prefer.
