Just caught the second half of "Jazz on a Summer's Day" on TCM.
Up next, 4:15pm ET, "Thelonius Monk: Straight, No Chaser", biography from '88 with clips primarily from '67-'68 period.
Monk was a hugely respected composer, you've probably heard a theme of his somewhere long the line and didn't even know it.
Should be a nice introduction for those who are trying to "understand" jazz, especially the more "atonal" or polytonal stuff.
