OK Steve (Default), this one is for you...I know, "Without pictures it didn't happen..."

On the last day, at the last concert, during that last awarding of the "door prize" of the Steve Kaufman Acoustic Camp...

(Sort of sounds like the signing of the WWI Armistice, doesn't it?)

This juicer won the grand prize, a NEW Collings D2H !!!

Now, wearing a Guild shop-shirt might not have been the best of form in this situation, I offered to take if off for Steve,
but being the resiliant professional that he is, he simply put his hand on my chest...he thought Bill Collings would think it pretty funny.

Full review will have to follow later, after I have really gotten accustomed to her, but my initial imppression is that she is a full-blown Bluegrass-cannon...heavy bass and bright highs...but suppressed mids. Very different than my NH D55...not bad, but very different. I have to let her get
acclimated to the temp/humidity here before doing any set up, as she clearly notices the different between New England and Tennessee.

Having a hard time getting good images of her, will have to try outside this weekend.

Thank you note to the Collings' organization to follow...

Ahem, West...a D2H

:pride:

Don't know if the top is sitka or German (other option)...very pale, like Englemann, but that is not an option for her...

Steve, I will say that I now can appreciate your trance-like state at LMG II...I am told that was my condition back stage
as well...:blushed::blushed::blushed:

Congrats, Bill! Is that herringbone purfling?!!! Holy Moly! What a beautiful guitar!

Ya know, Bill, when we (LTGers) visited the Collings factory this past March, Bill Collings was hosting some Taylor execs that day.....I'm with Mr. Kaufman, I'm sure Mr. Collings would 'appreciate' your Guild shirt. The Collings folks were great to us. Again, congrats!!

Toni, yes herringbone around the top. Steve (Default) sent me specs even before I had regained my composure, LOL!
Thanks for helping me calm down, buddy...:eek-new::tears_of_joy:

From what I can gather, this is sort of an uber-M@#7!n D-28H.

That alleviates my curious mind. Yesterday when I casually saw your sig: something was wrong... Somehow, I got the idea that you were more than happy with your current herd, and then out of nowhere another geetar. I know strange things happen. However I was almost sure that SWMBO would not have approved such decision...

Big congrats, Bill! :congratulatory:

All the best,
B.

True Steve...

Thanks to all for your kind comments. This kind of thing, on this scale, just does not happen to me. Usually
it is the other way around and you just persevere and suck it up...

Funny thing, I was hoping for the either the little acoustic amp (Fishman was a BIG donator to the Kamp, as well as DR Strings) or
maybe hitting for the (custom-made, private builder) Sparkle Telecaster...not that I'd know what to do with it if I had won it...

As it turns out, I got the mother lode...cannot say I am sorry, just overwhelmed still.

Congratulations Bill! It's interesting how you note that the guitar is a "full-blown Bluegrass-cannon...heavy bass and bright highs...but suppressed mids". The 2004 sitka-topped D2H that I owned for a while was quite the contrary. It was much more like the H&D D-RH in that it seemed to be braced more in favor of midrange punch. It was a really nice guitar and beautifully made, but being the hog guy that I am I never quite managed to bond with it. I guess yours must have the German Spruce top. Either way, enjoy the new baby!

Wow, Bill! If you get tired of her, I'll double your investment.
