I believe this is an X80, I bought it back in the late 80's brand new, does anyone have some info about this guitar?

I think that's an X-79, big Mike... Anyway, welcome aboard.

If I recall correctly, this one was modeled after one used by Twisted Sister in the '80s? I could very well be wrong about that though...

Can you give us the serial number branded into the back of the headstock, and we can try to date it for you.

Hey, Mike.

I think we've seen a few of them (at least one with the zebra stripes) recently. I don't know how they compare with yours, but I think being the original owner is a great selling point...

Anyway, I suspect some of the other guys have a better idea of value. Good luck!

And no... probably a little less than $2-3M. :D :D

I bought this from the Fret House in covina california, I used to go in there all the time and the guy was really cool he would let me play it whenever I went in to make sure it was still there. I would plug it into a small Mesa Boogie and the action and the sound was beautiful, I finally saved up enough money to buy it for $1200.00

I have owned three X80s and still own two. I would expect to pay anywhere between $1000 and $1500 for an X80 in excellent condition today. As a collector I'd love to have the striped model (Don't recall seeing an X80 with that) but I imagine since it's no longer the late '80s that the design is not in high demand.

FWIW I think there were less than 200 X80s made which is a shame because I find them to be much more playable than the far more popular X79s.

GAD, out of curiosity, I own three X-79s but have never had a chance to play an X-80. What do you think makes the X-80 more playable? Body shape? Where the strap buttons are located?

I know on the earlier X-79s, the strap button was at the tip of the long "horn" that could place the guitar in an awkward position for playing while standing. Somewhere later in production, they moved the strap button to the back of the long "horn" which allowed the guitar body to be more centered on your body. Once I played one of those, I moved the strap button to that position on my earlier models.

I think I will leave it to my kids when I die so they will have something to remember me by.....unless the value goes way up than forget the kids lol
