I’ve been a little disappointed in the D46 lately. The sound quality just hasn’t been great lately and the E and A strings seem really muddy and lifeless. I’ve tried different strings and each time was left a little flat on the results. But this time I tried something different and all I can say is WOW! I removed the saddle and cleaned the small amount of lint and crud; (crud being an industry term  ) from the slot. Just for the sake of doing so I also cleaned the dust and lint from the peg holes and bridge plate. Put a new set of strings on and were back in business.

Very cool. Wierd coincedence but I just did something similar. The E and B strings on my Martin sounded a bit thumpy and lifeless. Noticed a bit of crud in the nut slots. Cleaned it out, bit of graphite lubricant and voila, all's well again. :)
