Gonna put in my humble opinion here and say that those first run Chinese made gad guitars were, are, and will continue to be a phenomenal value. I’ve had several gad40ce’s, the most recent being one of the nicest sounding and playing guitars I’ve owned. The new 140/150 models not so much.

I've always thought the GAD series Guilds (all generations) were among the best MIC acoustic guitars of any brand - kind of on the same level with Blueridge. Just wish those old GADs didn't have that pick guard.

Naw the one with the different shape with one side tampered and shorter. I just like the symmetry of the traditional Guild pickguard I guess.

In case you weren't aware, they're easily removed with a little judicious application of heat.
At least one member here (Killdeer43 IIRC) replaced the one he didn't like with a traditional style 'guard.
It's a poly finish, so pretty "bullet-proof", little risk of damage from removing, but not sure if underlying wood will be lighter, I normally associate the top darkening with the NCL, not the wood itself.

I swapped the pg on my GAD25 ( not a fan of the early GAD pg's ) with a traditional using a hairdryer to quote Al "judiciously" and it came right off.
