Tough call but in fact I include it on my original list.
But I didn't realize it was a prototype.
If it was intended as a fully-fledged production quality piece and they simply never got around to making any, I'd include it. (Same principle as the Firebird)
If it was only a proof-of-concept and they decided not produce I'd delete it.

The D80-12 has a prototype serial # (LL prefix). My understanding is that it never went into production, but 24 6-string D80s did.

I realize it's hard to gauge "intent" (as in my original question about whether they actually intended to produce it it) but that s/n assignment indicates to me it was supposed to be a "production quality" piece; saw one of those on a Prestige model too: "Let it stand!"

Yeah.... they were pretty little guitars and lovely to look at but way overbuilt and not sonically aggressive. So yeah, pretty but not that amazing. I forget the #s... like a 25 and a 50? You can search for them I think....
I have tried. Got some good info, but I would like to know the history and why they stopped building them. As I found out, they started in 1995 and stopped in 1998. I understand they were introduced at $2500 and were pretty popular within the series…A….? But not as popular as the flagships. Only bad thing I found is it doesn’t put out the volumn, but has great resonance. Then, it’s an OM I believe an volumn is not there on any brand usually.
You said…overbuilt. Could you elaborate if you know more on the history of the A50?
thanks for your help.

Might be worth a separate thread to discuss the A series, if only to consolidate much of the info in one easily findable location for the future. That said, I have no information to contribute except to speculate that when FMIC bought Guild in 1997 they dropped the A series because it didn't support FMICs strategic vision for Guild.

I’m still waiting for you to prove you are right. 😎

A related question, that may have been answered by post 16, is what model was or has been in production for the longest period of time? Not necessarily continuous, but total length of time. Maybe the D-40?

^ Charlie, FYI, this thread is three years old (since Guildedagain posted that).

@Cvbinrichmond as frono said, it'd be better not to revive necro-threads like this with unrelated questions as it just confuses members. Thanks.
