Thanks for all your replies guys and I would very much appreciate any help you could provide in getting a guild from the states at your prices I would be getting hell of a bargain compared to uk prices.

Jerry I'm from Stoke although currently on holiday in Anglesey Wales good to hear from you

Just looking at the models suggested and wondered what's the difference between the d50 and the dv-52?

The current D-50 model (at least the one built in Tacoma, which I assume is carrying over to New Hartford) has an red (Adirondack) spruce top and braces. I think the DV-52 was made from Sitka spruce, but I'm not sure. I don't think the D-50 was always made from Adi, but it was recently.

Also, most of the DV-52s I've seen have a different rosette than the D-50s.

Nothing wrong with an 09 Larrivee either, might be worth holding on to, if possible, Steffan

Steffan makes a good point. A Larrivee 09 is a fine instrument. It'll allow you to be choosy and wait until the right Guild (at the right price) comes along.

Enjoy the search! :D

Well the right Guild at the right price did come along thanks to Graham I am soon to be a proud owner of a DV-52 the very guitar I craved.

I appreciate everybodys input, and you said that I was in the right place to get fixed up and weren't wrong, Graham has been a pleasure to deal with throughout and a credit to a great forum.

Thanks everyone

See, Jason, you came to exactly the right place! Welcome and congrats on a fine guitar purchase!

That Graham's an alright guy, I don't care what West and Don and Coastie and Jeff and Jerry and others say about him

Congratulations Jason and belated welcome to the best guitar forum on the web.

Grammy once told me that if I kept only one sixer, the DV-52 would be the one to keep. I subsequently got one from LTGer FungusYoung and after playing for just one session, I knew exactly what he meant. The DV-52 is one awesome instrument and Grammy is an awesome guy. Enjoy; another great LTG story...

Jason finally received his DV-52. It took a while but it arrived safe and sound. He says he's very pleased, loves the tone, etc.

Not sure if he's going to post anything about it, says he's having difficulty putting it down.

Best thing I think is he got a DV-52 from here, including shipping, for less than he would have had to pay for a D-25 there.

As Graham has said I finally got my DV-52 after whats felt like a lifetime of waiting, but its definitely been worth the wait, I'm absolutely over the moon with it.

I've been playing it pretty much every spare second I get at the moment I just can't get enough of it, it plays and sounds amazing, its got its first acoustic night tomorrow so I'm looking forward to hearing what it sounds like plugged in also.

Once again thanks everyone for your help in getting me fixed up and a big thank-you again to Graham for letting me have this beauty, and for the excellent packing, oh and the Guild Badge, I'll wearing that with pride tomorrow also.

Right gotta go now got a guitar to play
