Which do you prefer to buy, HB1 or Dimarzio?

If you had to choose between two guitars identical except for pups and priced the same, which would you buy?

HB1s all the way, the S300A-D is perhaps my favorite guitar.

HB1s have much more character than the Ds do.

I was thinging of selling my 1979 startfire 4-D (stock Dimarzios). A prospective buyer said Guilders would prefer HB!'s, and I think he's right.

At any rate, I decided to keep the guitar. I have two guitars with HB1's, but only this one with Dimarzios. If I sold this one and regretted it, I'd have to look a long time to find another. I don't know exactly how rare they are, but rare enough that I don't see them very often.

I think vintage Guilds of any ilk are pretty hard to come buy, especially in great condition!
