What's the finish on the DV-52?

It looks like poly to me but I was just fooling around on Westerlyguild.com it it says there that it's nitro. Does anyone know since I've had it on a guitar stand and I would hate to think I'm mucking up the finish if it reacts to the foam on the stand? Thanks.

Actually, there were two finishes applied to the DV52, one in nitrocellulose, the other satin.

 :? Thanks guys! Man I was sure it was poly! I mean I would have "bet" a guitar that it was poly!!! I usually just take an old t-shirt and put the stand inside the t-shirt. Cheap, works well, mother of invention, etc. Well I think it is the thickest of all the nitro finishes of all the acoustics I own. Man I can't believe it!!! That means, without intending it to be this way, all of my acoustics are finished in nitro?! I didn't see that coming. Thanks again.

Ok, now I am worried. Which stands should I not use with nitro? I have cheap stands with the black rubbery foam.

If you use stands all the time, ditch the cheap ones and spring for some Hercules stands.

Cover the foam. Use something like flannel.
Most rubber/vinyl stuff "outgasses" and those fumes eventually break down the lacquer in decidedly unappetizing ways. I wouldn't even trust flannel over the rubber, only something impermeable. Watch out also for the dyes in leather.

Yup, Ridgy.... Be careful! Surgical vinyl tubing and rubber will start melting your lacquer. Not good.

+1 on Hercules stands, or just felt spacers....

Oof! How do you reckon some duct tape wrapped over the foam and then wrapping the stand in a t-shirt would do? I could go all out and get something but honestly, I think a little ingenuity would do the trick.

Will you regret your ingenuity if it turns out you are wrong? I'd also have to ask whether duct tape "outgasses" or could also be a source a future blemish? But just remember... These are our opinions but it is your guitar.

I applaud the ingenuity, in the case of duct tape I'd worry specifically about the adhesive. anything that was emulsified in solvent at some point, is a risk. If you simply wrapped the rubber tubes in a thick enough wrapping of cotton I think you's be ok. In fact, put clear plastic bags like from the supermarket, over the rubber, then wrap in cotton or flannel, that oughta work.
