I have been playing my DV52, that has been wrapped under the tree, today....man, it sounds SO good. I love the sound and look of this guitar. The neck profile isn't my favorite but I will sacrifice comfort for tone any day of the week. I get muscle cramps in my hand from playing it for any length of time. It's action is low enough but the neck is fatter than my vintage fender strat but slimmer than my gibson les paul (2 neck profiles I like)so it's both too fat and too slim at the same time... if that makes sense. I'm sure I will get used to it.
Anyway, A friend of mine asked me what year model it is and I haven't the foggiest idea.

DV52 NT HG
AD 522480

Can anyone help me on the year?

Congrats Jim....Martins may rule, but Guilds are 'Made to be Played'...I'm going to suggest you take 4 to 6 thousand units of Vit. D per day...at our age it helps us hit on all cylinders and helps prevent major diseases..New research says we need at least 4k units day.....I have osteoporosis, and it helps with the bone thing....enough calcium and Vit. D helps eliminate cramping too....I'll shut up now and celebrate with you your Christmas and your Guildmas...  Steffan

Thanks Hans. I apreaciate the info very much
I had gone to the Guild website and there seemed to be a gap in the listed serial numbers...of course mine fell into that gap.

I may need some vitiman d. I think it is more just simply the lack of playing though. I used to gig on a regular basis and my hands were in good playing shape with no fatigue. I took a job that has me working every weekend and had to let the giging go. I rarely pick up a guitar now. It's just like going from being in shape to becoming a couch potatoe...it's going to hurt when you start exercising again.

The good news is that I am putting together a group that is going to play in church...the DV52 will get played, the Lord with hear a joyful noise, and I will get back in playing trim.

God is good! :)

Yeah Jimi, same year as mine - it was a good year, '98 :D

Interestingly, when I got the DV-52, I found it easier to play because I'd been playing the D-25 for so many years, the -52 has a thinner neck profile. Of course it's still going to take a bit more effort than a Strat or an LP. Anyway, I'm sure you'll settle into a nice groove with your acoustic and best wishes for the new band! :D
