Well, Ray and his siblings were born in England, but "Davies" is definitely a Welsh surname. Is it Dyfed or Daffyd you are looking for? Never heard of any Welsh connection with Dave or Ray… did their parents move to Muswell Hill (north London) from Wales I wonder?
It’s got 6 strings. You can see the treble strings briefly in one of the early close ups. Old b&w footage doesn’t always have the resolution for those thin strings.Being a typical lip synced tune for tv, I figured I'd post one of the guitar actually being played. (Looks like on the above clip he's only got 3 strings on it!! )
Gotcha. From 3:10-3:16 really threw me off. It actually looks like he's resting his middle, ring, and pinky fingers on the body where the high strings should be!It’s got 6 strings. I think Rock and Roll Fantasy would be my favorite. They had a lot of hits. This might be my favorite.

From a year prior in Paris.
Well I'm Welsh and we always pronounced it 'Davis'. It's only a variant of Davis anyway.Looks like a Starfire III to me.
Bonus points to anyone here (do we have any Welsh members?) who knows how to pronounce his surname correctly.
That is correct! In America, everyone calls him "Daveez", but that's actually incorrect.Well I'm Welsh and we always pronounced it 'Davis'. It's only a variant of Davis anyway.
Don't get me started on tomato, aluminium, valves etcThat is correct! In America, everyone calls him "Daveez", but that's actually incorrect.
In the US and Canada, we pronounce aluminum just like we spell it. W/ just one "i". As for tomato, the plant originates from the Americas, so we're right, you're wrong.Don't get me started on tomato, aluminium, valves etc
The British are never wrong. In the US and Canada, we pronounce aluminum just like we spell it. W/ just one "i". As for tomato, the plant originates from the Americas, so we're right, you're wrong.
