Rock on, hideglue!!! Did you notice whether the 412 necks were being built with double truss rods? (Tacoma changed the process very close to the end of production there and I was wondering...)

(still no news, guys... persistent-mo will be sending another email tomorrow)

So, guys... Want a little feel good?? Do you think Mr. Untermyer likes his job right now? ::

[edit: I considered omitting the part about the best people but I think it all adds to the excitement... Westerly folks, no need to take any offense at this, I'm sure!]

Hi Charlie,

I did pass on your request for a factory tour to the Guild Product
Manager. We are currently preparing for a Guild Dealer Summit next
Monday. It's a major event and is consuming the time and energies of
both us here in the shop as well as the marketing group. I'm sure that
someone will get back to you after this event regarding your request.

We're now building the F Series guitars; they are fantastic. I'm very
much convinced that in its long and storied history, there has never
been such a dedicated group of individuals putting so much into building
Guild guitars. We truly do care about these instruments. It may not be
the biggest, but Guild has perhaps the best people, materials, tools and
processes and people of any U.S. acoustic guitar manufacturer. Add to
that some of the improvements to the guitars and the vibe of the shop
itself and we have a very special environment indeed.

I do apologize for the slow response regarding your request. Please do
bear with us; we have lots on our plate and we want to insure that we
give the guitars themselves all of the attention that they deserve.

All the best,

Frank

Thats awesome that he seems genuinely excited about these Guilds.

I'm looking forward to playing (and buying!) one of the fruits of their labor soon.

Tell ya what Chazzy, you get some interest in an LTG tour and I might just fly my happy a$$ up there. That would be a cool trip.....if done in January, probably a cold trip.

That would be an LTG event worthy of a get together!

Will there be free samples?

Well, guys, hopefully I'll hear from the Guild product manager after their dealer summit next week, and we'll get a date set for this. I'm gonna' guess you're probably right, JIm, and this will end up being in the late fall or early winter. Brrrrrr. ;)

Hey, if you and Graham wanna' travel out this way, I'm sure we can have our locals scope out a good place to stay in the New Hartford area and we could all hang out for an LTG mini-meet. That'd be great!

As promised, I'll surely put up a new thread when I get the details for tour plans from the Kaman folks. I'm personally about 1.5 hours from the factory. I suspect we'll get good interest from our New England LTG contingent to converge down there and check it out... We'll see.

Oh, originally I mentioned roughly 10 people to them as a guesstimate, but I doubt there'd be any real restriction.

See if they can throw in a free F-50R to the first group!

Only an 8 hour drive? Now that's dedication.

I live in MA and I'm probably less than 2 hrs from New Hartford, so I would very likely be interested in joining the tour group. I'll be watching this note.

In July I drove from MA to Philly for the Philly Guitar show, a 5 hour drive. I am hoping to make the trip again in November for Fall Philly.

Great work Chaz.

Where exactly in the New Hartford area are they? I'm going to search for places to stay as this is only about an 8 hour drive for me.

I'm not so sure there is such a thing as "the New Hartford area" - it's a pretty small place. For those looking for accomodations, Torrington is closest "large" town. If we time it right, Willie Nelson might be in town (for some reason he plays Torrington semi-regularly).

For non-locals, New Hartford is in the beautiful Litchfield Hills and there's no shortage of things to do, particularly if you like the great outdoors.

This is excellent, Chris... Outdoors stuff, of course, would be contingent pretty much on time of year. Stay tuned. :)

I stopped by the factory in late July (unannounced) and they were closed for vacation. A worker from another company in the complex said they were "slow" when I inquired about a job. Thats a job I would love to have.
