pretty good sides, bottom and neck as well John..  Still pretty tight though, needs to be played some. A guy's got to do what a guy's gotta do I guess. At least the meter isn't running...that's the good part, it costs nothing to pick it up and play it..Steffan

She's a beauty Steffan! Best of luck with it. I want a nice 'hog dread one of these days, and a '35 would fit the bill nicely.

When I had a closer look at this, Ithe top has a REALLY tight grain, no finish wear on the back of the neck, one small scratch on the back of the neck, and a little ding in the back outer bout where the finish is chipped, and very minor, dips in the fret board by the 1st and 2nd fret in the top 3 strings. Some crazing on the top, not really obvious till you are looking for it..so the finish must not be that thick...Unmarked individual tuners, I thought these had a strip. I'm not used to tuners with 'corners', but I'll adapt...oops, I already have.. Everything is original, case has the Guild badge, and barely any signs of wear, or that its been out of the case unless it was just played in the living room and put away...great guitar...still 'tight'...new sounding, but i guess my next big investment will be saddle and nut.... sure didn't expect it but didn't expect anything back on my updating (doing) 4 years of tax returns.... :D   So I'm broke again....what else is new.....hey a D35. :D Steffan

Congratulations Steffan! don't know what to make of the no-name tuners but if not original, the holes look like they match up pretty good ... well-done!

Thanks John, also noticed the block on the inside by the heel, is massive. Can't see this needing a neck set for the next hundred years unless someone is using heavy strings...Think I'll be into light/mediums...(and no, I don't mean uunder weight psychics   ) .Steffan

..I have to thank John Kidder for being a sounding board, of course he couldn't tell me not to buy it, I actually said to him at least this will keep me from buying something frivolous...
And that sums up the difference between GAS addicts and the rest of the world - we will happily spend a few hundred or a couple of thousand dollars on yet another instrument because it will "keep us from buying something frivolous". How perfect a rationalization is that: simply unassailable.

+1 And I'll add that good guitars are almost never a bad investment.

At least that's what I tell my wife

Beautiful guitar! What a great find. I guess they're out there, you just have to be lucky to find them.

I tell my wife "I've never lost money on buying and selling a guitar" Of course I don't tell her I never sell the ones I know I'll lose money on.

Congrats. My D-35 is pretty close to the same vintage. Wonderful guitar. Mine is in a lot rougher shape than yours. Bridge is just lifting a bit on the back side but has been that way for more than a decade. Lot's O' dings, nicks, scratches and other battle scars. Finish is worn thru where my arm rests on her. But, what a great sound she makes. :D :D

Enjoy :!: :!: :!: :!:

I'm late to the party again..Oh you naughty naughty boy always making surprises! Congrats buddy! But what are those marks on the top evident in the photos? Almost looks like (gasp) checking? Or just another artifact of lighting?
And what IS the difference 'tween a D25 and a 35? Maybe what replaced the flat back '25 when it became archback? Or are the back and sides a different wood? Can you stop playing long enough to care?

Hey man, you talkin' to me? It is checking on the top but not really noticible from across the room, kidding. only shows up if you are looking for it, digital photos make it look worse than it is. Yes this would be the alternative to the D25 arch. Now I'm in a quandry with my all mahogany flat back, and this baby with the spruce top, an they both sound great but, keep them bott? the jury is out on that. I'm trying to lighten up here...Guilds don't make it easy, 5 of them now. ah well...Steffan
