Well, this doesn't sound right.

I'm not sure how they could have come up with 1 7/8 but they did have a F-2512 hanging there so I wonder if they didn't measure the nut on that one?

The lighting and angle make it look smaller but by my measurement it is 1 11/16, maybe a hair smaller.

The guitar played great, althought I prefer the satin neck on my F30HR. The neck block stamp confirmed the advertised manufacture date of 1998. There is some sort of passive pickup installed but I didn't bring an inspection mirror so I don't know if it's an under-saddle or transducer style.

It was set up with the action quite low, 12th fret Low E was at .08 and the High E was at .05, but there was no string buzz.

I didn't bring a straight edge and it is certainly playable as is but the saddle has been cut low and there is very little break angle on the strings. The guitar will likely need a neck reset in the not so distant future. One other little nit pick...someone used dirty pliers to pull the bridge pins at some point.

You did me a real solid. Thanks so much! If you ever get down to New Orleans, drinks are on me! It seems like a lot of them are slightly above 1 5/8 and slightly below 1 11/16. Sigh.

Joe's F-112 conversion is looking better and better. BTW, Joe is communicating with me off forum and has been a great source of information. He is in a lot of pain after his slip and fall. If you're so inclined, send some good thoughts his way.

Great Assist on that Marius! That is one of the things that I love the most about this place, There is always someone willing to help out no matter what is needed. That is what makes this Great place home for me regardless of what Guitar I am playing. Well Done!

No problem at all, I'm always looking for a good reason to spend a little time in a guitar shop. I tried out a Yamaha L series while I was in there; I think it was a LL16 but I honestly didn't even look twice at the label. The neck on that thing played like butter; I had to put it down and step away very quickly! I really prefer small bodies so it was easy to walk away from at first but now I'm afraid I'm on the hunt for a LS16 just to see if they play anything like that LL.

Thanks TX, happy to do it! I know if I were in Bayou's shoes it'd be great to have someone on the other side of the country, or the other end of the Mississippi in this case, put eyes/hands on a guitar for me.
