:D Pulled the trigger on a Westerly 1977 Guild F212XL!
I have always wanted a Guild jumbo 12 string and I am sooooo looking forward to getting this one in my hands. The seller says there is lots of saddle and the neck angle is spot on and absolutely no need for a neck reset....Hooray! No cracks, a few scratches and dings, tuners are smooth, and the bridge was reglued at some point.
I love mahogany and can only imagine how this guitar will ring.
Now its waiting for the guitar to be packed and shipped...should take a couple of weeks or so.....Has anyone had any experience shipping guitars to Canada? It is in Vermont right now...owner has to get a proper box and get her packed up so that could take a bit of time too...Will post pictures when she arrives! YAHOO!!!!!! :D :D :D
Here's a couple of the sellers pictures

Hey 12stringer

I live in NH, on the VT border. I haven't bought any guitars from Canada, but I did buy a case and had it shipped. It didn't take that long. If the guy in VT gets it out tomorrow, you should have it by the end of the week.

Good Luck

Congrats, 12er.
Looks great from here and I know you'll enjoy it once it gets into your hands. Waiting is the tough part but just hang in there and imagine how good it's going to feel/sound.

Looks like a real nice one, Randy. I'm sure lovin' mine. The combination of that big lower bout and the mahagany back and sides is something to behold. Congrats, and be sure to post more pics when it arrives.

Shipped a guitar USPS Priority Mail, handed off to Canada Post, from California to somewhere in Ontario...arrived in under a week...safely. Correctly filling out the customs form which gets stuck to the box does help.

Steffan,

From the pictures that you sent, this '77 F212XL looks alot like my '67 F212 but I believe that the XL is an inch larger (17") at the lower bout and the fretboard is Ebony instead of Rosewood, right. I wonder how much more volume, tone, projection you'll might get, with those changes? I really like my F212.

Thanks for the congrats folks.
Treem....I am always open to suggestions for strings....being mahogany I am thinking something in a PB light.
Under a week for shipping sounds fine to me Joan(?) (my memory isn't so....uh...what was I sayin?)...Oh ya...Will let you know when she arrives.
Yes Stef...The good old HST....good thing it's not being shipped UPS or the surcharges would be stacked on top like pancakes....a lot less easy to swallow though
Marc and Joe....it's going to be awesome I am sure....will post some sound as well as photos when she arrives  :D
And Stef....we do all look alike don't we? Here's a typical family photo...

Congrats on the new 12'er. Post some pics and a review when she arrives. I had a guitar shipped from Vancouver to Annapolis. Little over a week.

Nice Randy I hope it all works out.

For strings, I always go to John Pearse lights, even on the 12's that I owned, as my local luthier said, they seem like they were made for Guilds.

Shipping to Canuckistan is all about immigration. It can sit in a warehouse for what seems like an inordinate amount of time, when you track it, but 7 - 10 days should do it.

Post a tune with it ASAP!!

Hi Tim....the seller has another early 70's F212xl and F212 he is keeping....there must be something special and unique about both models for him to keep both.

Graham...thanks for the string advice brother....will definitely record a tune and post it once I get her home.

My F212xl is now making it's way north. The seller had trouble finding a box but has shipped the guitar yesterday via USPS....I just checked the tracking number and already it has gone from Vermont to the New York processing center and has now left New York bound for Toronto Canada....not sure if it is going by truck or air but so far it has made some serious tracks since yesterday morning. The weather has been mild in New York so temperature is not yet an issue.
Looking forward to the arrival. :D
