I have 3 vintage Guild archtops, a '53 X-150, a '55 X-50 and a '61 X-175. I have the original cases for all but they are getting quite ratty now and wanted a modern replacement case that will fit them so I can take them to gigs. Bought the SKB-20 and it is too small. Any suggestions on where I could get a replacement?

I have a '94 X-700 in a modern Gibson L5 case and it fits nice and snug. I don't know how different (if any) the dimensions of the older archtops would be. Might fit the '61, at least?

that's helpful- I was thinking L-5 cases too- I'll have to see what I can find out there. The '53 is a 17 3/8 bout from what I can see- surely that isn't bigger than an L-5!

I think L-5s might be technically 17" guitars. My X-700 fits pretty tight in the Gibson case, but it's not bulging the case out or anything; there's enough give in the padding and fuzzy liner that it's ok.

I like some aspects of the Gibson case: nice padded handle, satin fold-over liner for the front of the instrument, generally pretty sturdy design

I do not like: giant "Gibson USA" silkscreen on the front and lack of latches. I think the case only has 3 or 4 latches and none on the end or backside.

I'd much rather have the OEM Guild faux-gator case, but it's tough to find one and a pretty boring thing to throw money at if I ever did...
