I attended his performance last night. He was scheduled to play with Cris Jacobs but ended up playing solo for two hours. (Cris had a family emergency.) Non-stop masterclass. Pretty incredible. I don't know how a brain can send signals to so many body parts in so little time. It's like musical chess - he's planning moves well ahead of where his hands are at the moment. He played (abused in some cases) any one of three guitars (below) that he only described as being built in Australia using indigenous woods. They were amped up pretty loud, sounded great, and the light/fog show added some atmosphere to his self- inflicted pyrotechnics. I'll admit I'm not a huge fan of break-neck speed up and down the frets (although he can and did play some quiet pieces), but I'm glad I was able to see one of the few CGPs around. Funny moment: a button on his right hand shirt cuff was bothering him (ticking while he played he said although I couldn't hear it) so a stage hand came out with a little knife and cut it off. Who knows, maybe that was a planned rest break? If you go, try to get a good seat up close - well worth the extra few bucks. Good show Tommy!
