Gretsch - quite a famous company - made fabulous drums, and when Leo named the "canoe paddle with strings" a Broadcaster
"Derided by some at first, the Fender Broadcaster changed the world of music in 1950 as the world's first dual-pickup electric Spanish guitar.", the Gretsch Co had serious issue because of now unknown to history Broadkaster drums, pretty sure it was actually spelled different, but Leo being the gentleman that he was decided to now call the boat paddle nothing at all, just a Fender logo, a "NoCaster".
Meanwhile, he and Freddy Tavares and George Fullerton were smoking massive bongloads trying to figure out a name and came up with the Telecaster because the television was turning into a thing in American lives, supplanting the old family radio, wartime bradcasts, mystery theatre shows, etc.
Later on, the Stratocaster because we had just invaded the Stratosphere.
