Being the cheap guy that I am, I change my own oil in my cars rather than paying someone to do it.

So this evening I'm out with my eleven-year-old son, and we stop at the auto parts store to buy a case of oil.

My son is casually tagging along, but then suprisingly objects to my choice of oil brand.

I tell him it really doesn't make much difference ...

then he pops off in a loud voice: "Think with your dipstick, Jimmy" (from the Castrol Oil TV commercials).

Fortunately, my name is not Jimmy, or I'd have thought he was talking to me.

Ah, the power of TV comercials on the young mind.

I think at a certain age they watch the commercials more than the programs.

When my ex-wife's boy was 5 we lived in a small rural town of about 2000 population. One Saturday morning we were eating breakfast in the village cafe. Phillip spilled his orange juice, and I grabbed the edge of the tablecloth to keep it from running all over. A waitress called over "I'll get a towel". Phillip shouted back "Maybe we should use a maxi-pad".
