I'm looking for a guitar for my father-in-law. He asked if I could find him one with a thicker neck than the typical C-shaped electrics. Do any of you know of particular guild models/years with a more "thicker" neck?

I've read a bit about on these forums. Maybe do a search?drc said:Zelja said:I thought the chunkiest necks were on the Blues90s.
can I get a confirmation on that?

I owned two Green Blues 90's in the past. One had a blemish so I sold it to purchase a new one when Fender was blowing Guild electric line out of the stores. I then sold the new Blues 90 to get money for a Nighbird. I missed the Blues 90 and then purchased a beautiful blond Bluesbird 90. Nice chunky neck like the Blues 90 , same pickups but more ornate.
And then I noticed the difference....The Bluesbird 90 is a bit thinner and lighter than the Blues 90 and those differences combined with the chunky neck make the Bluesbird 90 less balanced than the Blues 90. The Bluesbird 90 has the tendency to have the neck pull the guitar down. I didn't have that issue with a Blues 90. It is definitly noticable and it kind of bugged me for a while. However the Bluesbird 90 is so pretty that I got over it and accomidate the difference.
So I again am longing for a Blues 90!
The moral of the story is always buy and never sell Guild guitars. I always regret it in the end. It is best to have a philosophy to leave it up to your Estate Sale to sell your Guilds. Unfortuanatly that doesn't work in the real world.
