Sandy, you got the GAD version.

I sure did. :(

After all that work, the POS STILL won't start, and I've run out of tricks.

I'd laugh, but I'm too pissed right now.

Couple of things that work for me re: storing gas engines.

Add some fuel additive that is designed to work with ethanol gas. It's the ethanol that causes all the agita. Lots of brands and they all seem to work fine.
Run the engines as dry as possible. Just as it starts to sputter and cough run some fogging oil thru the carbs.

Another option is to go to a local small plane airport and buy aviation gas. AV gas has no ethanol. Then just run the engine dry, add the AV gas and fire it back up. Let the AV gas run thru for a bit, then cut the fuel supply and do the fogging oil trick.

We have several gas powered fork lifts, 7 outboard engines, four generators and four gas powered water pumps that we use at work. They are all stored from late Oct. till April. We've tried both options above with good results.

but the best of all is our old friend, Jim Cantore. He, too, is bundled up in a park in Boston with a yardstick mounted vertically, waiting to measure the snowfall that's coming.
The ground is totally bare and people in the background are going about their normal Friday routine....while he waits for snow.
Me too. Wonderful mental image, thank you! Right up there with the guy on the boardwalk documenting the waves about to sweep his transmitter van away a couple of years back...

Sitting in the hot tub this morning I got snowed on. When I got out it stopped. Therefore if I stay out of the tub till tomorrow night the whole thing will blow over.
Yet another wonderful vignette and stirring testimony about the awesome power of logic.

Briggs & Stratton

Supposedly the engine in my 1964 Rambler Classic was made by Briggs & Stratton. At the time I was amused that my car and lawn mower had engines from the same company.

I wasn't, but I should have been.

I heard that in my youth and unquestionably believed it for 40 years. Some quick research finds no support for my assertion. Since I liked my lawn mower and that straight six put out more than I could handle as a young driver, I just took the statement as an interesting "fact" and not as the insult to the car that it seems it was intended to be.

Live and learn. Thank you.

We got roughly 24 to 28 inches of snow in my area. I stayed at my office building all night, stacking snow in huge piles at either end of the parking areas. The snow piles are taller than my plow truck, & the sand bags tossed into the rear of the truck bed are now all slammed up against the front of the bed from pounding into the snow piles with the plow.

@ twocorgis: I swear by Stabil, a fuel stabilizer product, for small engines that are only used occasionally. Perhaps you could also add a shut-off in the fuel line, if there is enough room?

My heart goes out to you Yoko. I'm glad things are better for you right now. I know how scary that can be.
