Quite a sad story.

I wonder how many people recognized the song that he's listening to at the end of the video? It's "Music" by John Miles. Ironically, I happen to have the album "Rebel" that that song is on! Nobody's making music like that anymore!

For me, it was not a known song.

What amazes me is that this outstanding collection is there, almost in a limbo, where nobody is interested in it. Sad, really sad.

Imagine the millions of hours of entertainment and joy, that you can find in that collection. Awesome!

Dang, so much things; so little time and money...

All the best,
B.

Wow, that is a really sad story. It's hard to believe that someone or some entity doesn't want to preserve this amazing archive. As he says, it's heartbreaking. Thanks for posting the link to the video, Bruno. A sad state of affairs..... :(

Maybe we could try to raise the money to preserve the collection: since the "top five posters by letter" thread, LTG has something like 2500 members that have posted at least one time. Our goal is 3 million dollars. You do the math.

You're welcome, Tom! :D

A hug & All the best,
B.

I remember John Miles' hit "High Fly" - he opened for Elton John at a stadium concert I was at in '76.

To me, this collection is worthy of the Smithsonian as a collection of "Americana". Let visiors see the covers, play music interactively, etc. It could be great...

Sounds like a case for Neil Young, he's on a kick to restore hi-fi to recordings, maybe he'd be interested in archiving them.

He's probably got the $3M or whatever it will actually go for.

Very sad story. Heartbreaking. I really feel for the guy. Collections are fueled by passions, and this man has poured allot of love and effort into his collection there. I sure hope someone steps up and preserves what he has gathered in his archive.
Neil Young 'could' indeed be a great option. He could make that work in a number of ways. I wonder if he even knows of this. :?:

Great articles. Thanks Bruno.
Certainly adds to the understanding of this unique story, and to the poor man plight.
I love, and restore old American Reed Organs ( 1870's -1880's) Beautiful, majestic things. But noone wants one. They have no place in this modern world it seems. Other enthusiests say, "Their time wil come again...It has to!" But, No. Not likely. Still, there are folks that buy and horde these things too.

It's only about $1200.00 each, or the equivalent of 2500 new '96 D25's.

That's pretty interesting, John: thanks for contributing to my mental image of you...

The man who lives in the technology's heart, doesn't have a computer with a soundboard? There is nothing wrong with it: it's just strange and sort of funny. You're a unique man, Al. :D

In the heart of the world's tech empire I trade in one of the world's oldest inforrmation storage and retrieval mediums: Paper.
I did my time in high-tech and for the most part, you can have it.
Equipment and people are systematically cast aside and superceded in a cynical game of planned obsolescence.
Did you notice in my sig, all my guitars are acoustics?
Don't need no power grid to play them babies!
