Great job, and great article Marc.
And yes, when you play music, nothing else matters, so one is temporarily healed of what ails one.

Hey, Marc. Great job. Thanks for touching the lives of those who seem lost. My grandmother had dementia and for a looong time my mom took care of her. It was very sad to see her that way. Something she used to do that seemed strange at the time she would look out the window and claim to see her deceased husband walking up the street from a distance. Your doing a good thing here. We just didn't know how to reach her, as I'm sure others are experiencing, and if anything it will comfort those whom are related to them.
Sorry for the ramble/veer

Great article, Marc. Music is very healing and it reaches us in very different ways. There are details of events in my life and times in my life that are.... pretty vague. But if you ask me, I can recite the lyrics to "Don Juan's Reckless Daughter" which I learned when I was in my 20's and haven't probably heard since. Weird.

"I come from open prairies
Given some wisdom and a lot of jive.
Last night the ghosts of my old ideals
Re-ran on channel five...."

I know what you mean, Tom, I witness this happening all the time and it happens with me as well. A few years ago, a friend of mine started playing and singing "Advance Guard" by Seals & Crofts, and by the third line I was harmonizing the lyrics with him. Hadn't heard that song in over 30 years, since I used to listen to the 8-track!

Yeah, I've been playing the guitar for over 40 years now, done a lot of gigs in a lot of different settings, but this music ministry really makes me feel like I've come full-circle, like I'm fulfilling my purpose for learning how to play.

We joke around a bit regarding our dementia patient friends too: "It's like a new band every week!" And "We finally have groupies...even if they are wearing depends." (Didn't want to put that stuff in the article, though!)
