So I got the F30 home...and it is AMAZING! I absolutely LOVE it!!

I have a question about the finish...

It does have some checking...should I be concerned?

I've kept it in the case when I'm not playing it...not sure if that makes a difference...

Is there any kind of cleaner...moisturizer...magic potion...I should be putting on it to help it?

Don't want to mess anything up...and I figured you all would know the best thing to do...

Thanks again,
Rudy

Probably best not to wax it, as residue can show up in the cracks and accentuate them. Otherwise, its all character, like smile lines, part of the package, enjoy the mojo and the character...I enjoy all the characters around here..Steffan

Congrats on the F30. They are quite nice. Finish checking is just cracks in the finish. It is due to rapid temperature changes. Nitrocellulose (the finish) expands and contracts with temp changes but not as fast as the wood. When the wood expands/contracts due to a drastic temp change, the finish can't keep up and will crack. It doesn't affect the guitars tone or playability, just the aesthetic appeal. Most older guitars with nitro have some checking. Just keep it from drastic temp changes of ~25 degrees and you should be fine. There are ways to refinish the guitar, but I wouldn't worry about it. I don't know of any magic potion, but others may.

The checking that is already there was probably from extreme temterature changeg from cold to hot.
The finish reacts different than the wood and cracks.
If you don't subject the guitar to these conditions, it shouldn't develope new cheching.

By the way, these are not a structure cracks and won't effect the sound of the guitar.
They are just in the finish, if I understand you right.

PS, keep the humidity in the 40% to 60% range to protect your guitar from other problems.
This is also important when the guitar is cased. [in-case humidifier]
