That's a nice one! If you use advanced search and sort by date you can locate some other owners.

Thanks, Ralf. I've done a lot of searching, here, and unfortunately, many of the posts are old and links are gone. I did find a couple. Plus most of the Nightingale posts don't mention serial #'s. So, far I have only 7 cataloged.

Thanks, Zulu. It is by far the best playing guitar I've ever owned ( and I've owned quite a few, over the years). The frets and fret board is simply amazing. Friends that have played it say the same. In fact one friend compared this to Les Paul bursts saying this Nightingale is as good or better than LP's going for $100,000 + . Though that's a little extreme, I see his point. There are probably less Nightingales than bursts. The build quality is superb (better than any LP I've played). The only problem is, guitarist, like Page, Gibbons, etc didn't play Nightingales. They are definitely, one of the most underrated guitars in history. Vintage Guitar Price Guide doesn't even list them!
Hope someday you get your hands on one.

Krysh has one, as does Matsickma. A beautiful guitar, nightbird!

A question - from the photo, the f hole on the right almost looks like it is the same as the pickguard, and not a "hole" at all. A trick of the light?

Hey Walrus,

It's a 'real' f-hole; that's the back panel showing through!

Sincerely,

Hans Moust

Thanks, Hans!

Interestingly, I was in Guitar Center last month and they one of the new (introduced in 2014) Gibson Les Paul Supreme guitars. A Les Paul semi-hollow with f-holes. I know it's a totally different guitar, but it sure reminds me of the overall look of a Nightingale.

Here's my #19,

It's got a Gold EMG at the neck and a Silver EMG at the bridge.

Don't know if they're factory that way, but man are they hot!

My guitar is a sans Nightengale! I owned a Nightbird years back and the quality of the hardware on that guitar was significantly more highend that the hardware on my P90 'gale.

Dino Olar in Switzerland still has a NOS one with S/N 81 for sale. He calls it "X-40AMB" from 1988.
The interesting thing is the EMGs show "Guild" on them. I never had noticed that before.

Can something really be called NOS when it's over 25 years old? True, though, that guitar looks untouched!

Assuming those are US dollar amounts, Dino wants $5,700 for that Nightingale! Please correct me if his prices are in some other currency...

I don't believe those pickups are active EMG's with Guild on the cover. I believe they are passive pickups and not made by EMG. I have a set of single coils with black plastic covers with Guild printed on them and they are a set of stacked humbuckers made by DiMarzio. I might be willing to bet they are a DiMarizo HB's.

I had seen a few Guilds over the years with those type of covers. I wonder what that story is on those covers & pickups?

If this Nightingale is actually a latter-day "X" model from Westerly, could that mean it's a prototype? That could explain the lettering and the theory by matsickma (if it's correct).
