Ok, here 'tiz,
I had talked to him about trading my Epiphone HR-1 for it. He's in Camden South Carolina, I live outside Atlanta. I pass through every week, having the enviable (?) job of professional tourist.

So, I had to get back home to get the aforementioned Epi. Over the course of twenty for hours, and having consulted with some professional counselers, (family & buddies), I decided to hang onto the Epiphone, cause, even though they're not "all that" rare, they're ain't a whole lot of 'em floating around. And on top of that they make Seagull S-6's every day. If I want to I can always replace that.

I loaded the Seagull, a Johnson J-45 that although it's very pretty to look at, it sounds like uh, less than good......don't ask what I was doing with it, let's just say it was a moment of apparent insanity, and a Martin LXM that I bought to keep in the truck. The Martin is pretty tuff, as well it should be since it's make out of formica, but after a couple of years of not really liking the sound, I replaced it with a cheap wooden guitar.

So, here I go loaded for bear, or Guild, and went back to South Carolina with a mission, and a load of freight. Took the Seagull, and the Johnson in and haggled a little......Okay, I'll take these and $150 bucks. "Well", I sez, I was trying to get out without any cash, to which he replies, "Okay, I'm gonna have to pass, thanks for coming by."

"Hold on" I sez, "I'm not through I've got a Martin in the truck yet." He asks why can't you just reach in your pocket and use some cash? Well, times are hard, my wife's been out of work since April, and the freight business ain't what it used to be.......alright get the Martin.

End result......I kept the case the Seagull was in, he kept the Godawful thing he had, that wasn't the original anyway, he kept the three lesser guitars, and I left with the Guild.

I was happy, I don't know if he was, but it's been my experience that pawn shop owners ain't gonna do anything that doesn't make them happy anyway.

Did I pay too much? I don't know. All the three were on the chopping block anyway, and I'll just be happy in the knowledge that I have one more of the dwindling stock of Westerly instruments.

Sorry about the quality of the photos, the wife is hurrying me to leave for her brothers.

Happy Thanksgiving to all. And let it be known, if I had no guitars at all, I've got a LOT to be thankful for.

I see that the topic was moved from the ebay listings, to here, where it should have been to begin with. Should have known better, I'll do better next time.

Boy that's a beauty. Good trade! And since it came from a pawn shop you can use it to play the blues. (I remember that's in somebody's sig, but these old gray cells don't remember whose.)

Hope you had a great holiday.

(Ever thought of a composite acoustics cargo for your in-the-truck guitar?)

I love a good guitar-acquisition story, and you just provided us with one more. Nice score!
The guitar looks great and that case fits like a glove!
Looks like a keeper to me....but then most Guilds do!

Cheers,
Joe

One good thing about the trade is that you will have a lot less guitars to restring now.
The way I see it, you got rid of three OK guitars and got one GREAT guitar in trade. Good trade!

Yessir Mr. Poser,
As a matter of fact I just bought a CA legacy for that very purpose. It arrived yesterday.

I just discovered carbon fiber guitars, and I was amazed. If you hear this thing without seeing it, you'd swear it was made of wood. And, no ill effects from temp and humidity.

Oooo. A Legacy. I bought a Cargo a few years ago and really like it. Maybe a Legacy will be my next guitar .. well after the F-20 or the D-55 ....

Good story! Worth at least $500 so I think you did very well. If you are anything like me the local min value on your guitar headcount will not last. A few months ago I told my wife I was selling everything so I could buy the ONE NICE Guitar. My inventory stands at 3 including a recently acquired D-15M which I never saw coming. Thanks for the story; enjoy the new guitar.
