On October, 10, 2010, guitar players Nick Didkovsky and Chuck O’Meara bought a no-name electric guitar from Elderly Instruments. After exchanging a few jokes about how it is the “guitar of your dreams”, they decided to launch a project asking their friends to take part in writing and recording an original track with it.
Within 48 hours they signed up over 60 guitar players to be a part of the project. Thus the $100 Guitar Project was born. Two years & 30,000 miles later, on January 1st, 2013, a double album was released with 69 tracks by Bridge Records.
Guitarkadia has been filming the documentary on the $100 Guitar Project since February of 2012. The film is currently in production. I will be updating progress of the documentary. I’m in the process of seeking funding for the completion of shoot and post production. It’s become a bigger project than I’d imagined it would be but some things are better when bigger. Not unlike the project itself the film is evolving to tell a bigger story.
Can't wait to see the completed documentary! 8) Please help keep an eye-out for when it 'hits' the airwaves!
The album is coming soon, too!
