A colleague of mine at work just relayed this story to me today, which was told to him at lunch by Jeff Molde, owner of The Podium in Minneapolis.

Not too long ago a customer came into The Podium with a Martin J-series 12-string, unhappy with how it sounded, and he wanted to consign it so he could get a Leo Kottke model Taylor 12-string, instead. The arrangements were made, and the guy goes home with his Kottke Taylor.

Three days later, Leo Kottke came into the shop and went home with the Martin 12.

This is a true story.

:? Hmmm, must not have been a Guild 12 in the store? :) The Podium is a great shop, real stand-up guys. I've bought a guitar from them, would do it again in a heartbeat.
