Hello folks.. my first post here.

I recently picked up my first Guild acoustic, a Tacoma- built DV-4 from my local dealer who had some new old stock. Looking forward to learning more and adding to my small collection.

Hello sethmark and welcome. If it's Guild knowledge you're after, you've come to the right place.
Also sure you'll be able to add to your Guild collection. 8)

The acoustic guys and gals will be along shortly. :)

Welcome to LTG, and to Guild guitars. It's probably the first of several.

You definitely made the right decision buying the Tacoma made DV-4 before they started crafting them in Mexico. That axe may possibly be the least expensive solid wood American made guitar out there. Enjoy!

Congrats on a fine specimen! Your DV-4 was manufactured in late 2007.

Beautiful Guild (aren't they all? except for a few modern days solid bodies  ) and welcome to this wonderful place, where you will always find the appropriate guidance you will need for the acquisition of your next Guilds (which can basically be summed up in two words: "Get it")
Good luck!

Thanks Guys. I have a Tacoma DM-18 that's in Nashville for a refinish and neck reset. I bought the Guild as a stop gap for the 6 months the Tacoma was gone... but the Guild is every bit the Dred as the Tacoma.

Thus far I'm pretty pleased with the Guild. Unfortunately, the case is pretty loose, but that'll get fixed eventually.

Welcome, Seth! Great looking Guild, looks like it sounds great. The DV-4 is kinda the little sister to the old D-25, nice score.

Welcome!
I congrats on that purchase. I got my DV4 right 2 years ago and although it is a pretty cheap guitar I absolutely love it.

According to the sticker inside your guitar it was the 16th guitar produced on Sept. 27th 2007.

If you want to change strings (new old stock means that they are more than 3 years old): Try John Pearse 650LM Phosphor Bronze Bluegrass Strings (12-56). Lots of punch in that box!

I changed the strings to some Martin Marquis. I've had the guitar for a month and am about do for a change. I have some D'addario Elixirs going on next.

Any thoughts on the case being loose? Dealer swears its right....

Welcome here Seth, and good luck with your new baby. 8)

I hope Nashville gets your Tacoma back to you faster than they did my D50; it took 'em over eight months! They did do a really good job, though.

Loose in what way? Seems too big for the guitar?
