I just thought it was interesting... I saw a guitar with the Tacoma-style headstock and bridge as a new arrival in our music store and I looked closer. It said Olympia (made by Tacoma) or something like that. This was a Chinese-made guitar.

I didn't quite know what to make of it. I'm not familiar with this Olympia brand and whether that pre-dates the shutdown of the USA Tacoma facility (maybe like GAD is for Guild despite the Guild on the headstock). In any case, it looks like Fender hasn't fully ditched the brand.

There are also rumors of New Hartford taking on some Tacoma-brand guitars over in the Tacoma forum (http://www.tacomaguitarforum.com/index. ... en#msg5853) Anyway, we'll see, I guess.

I know the Olympia brand predates the Tacoma shut down, they have been out a while, but I don't know if they're still being made over seas.

Olympia was an import side to Tacoma. There are a few pieces of Tacoma and Olympia left in the warehouses. We use an entry level Olympia as a beginner instrument.
