Hello everybody
I‘ve had an eye on T-50 slim for some years now. It's a wonderful instrument. I have a Fender Strat and an acoustic Norman B-20. I’m looking for something to cover that middle ground of electric and acoustic and I think the T-50 is probably the way to go for me.
I especially like the simplicity of it. No tremolo, no cutaway, only one pick up.
Now I looked through the Guild line up again and the Starfier I SC caught my attention too. I see it's a bit less simple and it has two humbuckers instead of one single coil. So they surely don't have the same sound.
But I don't see why the T-50 is basically double the price (I mean it's definitely worth the price tag, no doubt). Is the T-50 made in the US and the Starfire in Korea? Is there a quality difference I don't see? Is it the Tail Piece? Do they look similar and are completely different under the hood? Or is the T-50 just a very unique model and does therefore somehow cost more to produce?
Can anybody point out what causes this price difference?
I'm basically trying to figure out if I pay less, is it because of features / the nature of the model or if it's simply quality that I'm sacrificing.
Would be glad if someone could shine some light on this for me. Thanks for the help
