There is a J or JF, I don't know the difference if there is one, 30 offered locally to me. Can anyone comment if this price is good or out of line. I don't know enough about Guilds to even know what they are worth. There are too many factories/eras!

That looks like a JF30 to me, and it's a wee bit overpriced IMO. Unless it's super-mint, ~$800 would be more like it. Anyone here with knowledge that's more peculiar than mine, feel free to chime in and correct me!

I'm with Sandy on this. A good one for around $800 is a fair price. I auctioned one off for $600 this past summer and it had a few issues. Nice Guild 12 string instrument.
Good luck,

I see only six strings. Did I miss something? :?
Regardless, that's one good looking Guild guitar!

I recently snagged a nearly pristine '87 GF30 (same model as in the CL listing) from the original owner for $750!

Nice, nice guitar to play and the maple sounds and looks beautiful.

That looks like a nice one on CL too but a bit pricey I'd have to say.

Actually according to Westerlyguildguitars the GF30 is NOT the same as a JF30 (And there is no "J30" Guild). The GF30 is a "grand concert" body with 16" lower bout:
http://westerlyguildguitars.com/guitars/gf30.html
The JF30 is a true jumbo with 17' lower bout:
http://westerlyguildguitars.com/guitars/jf30.html
With all due respect I must point out that the specs COULD differ according to the production year, I don't want to imply that Westerly guildguitars is a COMPLETE guide. It's just a very good place to start.
And again with respect, Bruzmuse, does your GF30 have an arched back? That's a little detail not explicitly covered at Westerlyguildguitars. Usually if it's a solid (flat) back it will state "solid" and the absence of that deatil implies an arched back. So personally I'm still curious.

HAHAHHA For a second I thought I had made this thread myself last night in a fit of GAS rage over a M75 Bluesbird!

I can understand the frustration, for I too am affected. This is very similar to the 91 JF30 I just acquired http://letstalkguild.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=22369.

Great guitar, the maple is gorgeous, both in sound and in looks. The guitar is a workhorse. As for the price, as someone here once told me, will the $200 make a huge difference in a couple of years time?

my 2 cents

Yes, my GF30 has an arched back and it's maple. I have a JF30-12 also. I don't have a tape measure handy at the moment to measure across the lower bouts but I would say that the GF is not as deep, if one was to measure from the sound hole to the back. The JF seems "thicker," just bigger all the way around.
I was actually looking more for an F30 when I happened up on the GF but now that I have it I've found that it's really comfortable to play sitting down, more so than a dread body to me. It's an awesome guitar and you just don't see too many around. I am VERY happy and I got it from the original owner! It's in perfect shape really. If I have time this weekend I'll get a picture of both the JF and the GF in here.

I'm more into brunettes but these two "blonds" have definitely found a permanent place in this guy's heart..... :D

THANKS Bruz. I also remember recently seeing a comment about some JF30-12's actually having a deeper body, it was in a thread (here) about one for sale over on another forum but "search" function doesn't want to play with me right now. :? I think the comment was in the thread on the other forum.
