It looks to me like the top is charred but not punctured, and I'm questioning where a bullet would've ended up in someone's couch if it made this imprint on the top.

The hole in the case, it came from the bottom towards the top:

And here is the hole in the side, and I agree, a terrible repair with some kind of wood paste maybe?

And the hole in the top again:

And the hole when the bullet left the top of the case:

And the slug mentioned:

Well, I guess it just was a terrible repair then. I'm also having a bit of trouble identifying that bullet, but whatever... It's of no consequence.

Happy trails!

What a horrible looking plug for what is supposed to be a bullet hole.

Silly people.

The discharge thing is appalling, should never happen, it reflects negatively on the concept of something that's supposedly well regulated but isn't.

Maybe the guitar can serve as a PSA, but it looks like they're just capitalizing on what could have been even more of a tragic error.

That slug looks like it hit something way more substantial than a guitar and its case.

Please note – (true story) a previous owner was cleaning a hand gun and it went off. The bullet went thru the case and thru the side and top of the guitar. Those two holes were repaired by Center Stage Vintage Guitars. The slug was pulled from his living room chair and mounted in the guitar.

Depends upon the chair, I suppose.
