If I ever find myself sweating more than my air conditioner’s condensation line, it’s time to start looking at houses in Maine! (It was already too hot for my liking in SW Fla in early march this year!! Ugh!)
Florida and I don't get along as well as we used to.

And yet at 5AM this morning it showed 35 outside in Phoenix...... colder than my cohorts in Boxborough, Mass. My visits to Florida are limited to November to January.......

We are already in triple digits for our "real feel" temperatures, 102 today.
We have had 17" of snow fall in our front yard since Monday (measured on the "flat," away from the piles from shoveling). It's 29F outside...

The next six months could get unpleasant.
Wow, here in Lalaland it's still relatively cold on and off. But at least the persistent rain seems to have stopped for awhile.

Here in Lalalaland it's still relatively cold but the persistent on and off but now freezing nights seem to have stopped for a while, I'm mindblown by a prospective 63, this would be the warmest so far this year.

It's been so nice here lately. Las Vegas has been 40's at night and 60's during the day. But of course, I know the heat is coming. Early next week, lows in the 50's and 90's during the day. Of course for us, that's almost sweater weather!!:ROFLMAO:

@Opsimath

You have my sincere sympathy. Heat and I do not get along well, unless it is dry heat. Arizona is OK. Parts of California are OK. Osoyoos, located in a pocket desert in the southern interior of British Columbia that is, perhaps the northernmost end of the Sonoran desert, can be OK in its summer heat, as well.

But, a perfect day for me is Icelandic in nature. Sunny, 6 to 8 degrees Celcius, with an ice cold wind off the north Atlantic.

In the lower mainland of BC we increasingly have summer heatwaves with thermal inversions. If I had had a crystal ball, I would have replaced my 1958 gas furnace, still chugging along safely and reliably with near total fuel inefficiency, with a heat pump or a dual-fuel heat-pump-furnace arrangement, when I retired the old furnace a few years ago. But I did not. An air-conditioner could be added into the existing system now, but it is a costly option (both purchase and operation), and the decibel level of the "quiet" models is similar to that of a four-lane freeway.

There is an Australian company called Cooleroo. They make thermal sun shades for over windows, under eaves (to shield a whole building), around patios, etc. I don't think their full product range is carried in Canada or in the US, but there is a greater availability in the US than here. I have installed a number of their blinds on my house, over a number of windows and under the eaves of my back porch. They let a surprising amount of light through while at the same time reflecting heat away. They are neither costly nor inexpensive, but once installed they cost nothing to use. They are surprisingly effective.

Stay cool!

Hope it turns around for you as forecast. We were in Vegas last week and it was 50's and raining.....kinda weird to be honest. I suppose it has to rain sometime.

We've had record rain this year!! And since mid-January it's snowed 5 times. Truly freaky weather for us. I'm fine with rain and cooler. The heat will come, but I enjoy this more pleasant time a lot better. (y) (y)

Low 50s here today. We could hit freezing tonight. By the start of the week, it looks like we'll be off to higher temperatures and no more frost. Expected to hit 86F by Friday. From unseasonably cool to unseasonably warm. I guess we can't have 70 every day.

I hope all that rain has helped the water situation. I was watching Lake Mead updates on YouTube some months back, until filming at Mead was no longer allowed. I believe the level is up, but don't know how much.

The level is up some, but not enough to really support the 2.6 million people in the Vegas Valley. Clark County actually penalizes you with heavy fines for having a lawn or landscape that's not desert friendly. Which is good but it's still not enough.

The L.A. Times reported that the reservoirs are full. They didn't have a lot of pictures. From what I saw, it looked like they filled up only to the level where it can still absorb spring rains, if they come.

No, that is not the case at all with Lake Mead or Lake Powell, which are fed by the Colorado River and are still at critically low levels. A reckoning of some sort is on the way if you live in a region whose water is sourced from either of these two man-made lakes.
