Hello,I’m new to the forum,I ask you to help me determine the year of my guitar and all the information about it. Inside the guitar there is an inscription Custom Shop / Starfire VI Custom,no number on the back of the head.I can't find any information about Guild Custom Shop.I would be very grateful if you can find time to answer. Thanks IMG_1645.JPG

Welcome and that’s very pretty! I don’t have any detailed insight on the history of that guitar but I am sure others with more knowledge will chime in momentarily. Can you please post a photo of the label inside the f-hole? This will help the identification.

Interesting that is seems to have the Hoboken style truss rod cover, although it's possible it didn't come that way. Cool guitar!
I have seen a few from this era that have the plastic Westerly shaped truss rod cover with the Hoboken style “shield“ in the center. Here is one from a 2000 F30 currently on Reverb.

Now that I look a little closer, it is plastic, so probably did come that way.

Hello Alex,

Welcome! That particular guitar was completed in the Nashville Custom Shop during the year 1999. It was ordered by Washington Music and it did get a regular Bigsby vibrato instead of the usual Guild branded Bigsby.

Sincerely,

This guitar was custom ordered in that configuration, so it's a one-off. There may be other ones that could be similar, but it was not part of a series.

I noticed there's some headstock binding missing. If you are going to have that repaired, make sure that the repair guy or woman has experience with these kind of jobs!

Sincerely,

Hans Moust

Why did the shop use a Bigsby? Was that a common practice or would it have been special ordered that way? Beautiful guitar!
