Here’s a pic of my ‘63 Starfire V (Bert Weedon) with its original Guild Bigsby. I’m no expert on Bigsby’s but I am confident it is original. Guitar was bought (and lives) in the UK, its original owner being in his ‘90’s when I got it in 2007. Hans suggested the guitar had been re-branded Starfire V when Bert Weedon became ‘un-hip’ in England!

awesome! im thinking with mine either 2 things happened. 1. its a starfire 2 that had the bigsby added and someone made the ii into iii on the label. or 2. its actually a starfire iii and someone took off the guildsby and swapped it for whatever reason for the bigsby. im thinking it is a starfire ii. id love to see a pic of an actual bigsby (marked) on a starfire iii.

I think you are very likely right jeffmac… much more reason to try to turn a SFII into a III…
I don’t own a SFIII… just for fun here’s a pic of my (non-bigsby) ‘62 SFII in honey-amber

thats a beauty ! how is the neck profile on that ? mine is like a thin rounded D shape. super comfortable. I was hoping at first it was a soft V like the x150 i had but i like this shape a lot.

Same! It’s slim width but not insubstantial. I had to refret.. several different gauges accumulated over the years.
my frets are super low. its playable for now but i plan on replacement soon.
