They just got back to me with the serial which corresponds to a 1975 Guild.
Sounds good! As you realized Hans is never wrong! :D
So sounds like a good guitar!
Since it is in Europe it is more expensive, if you import it you have to add the VAT on top of the US pricing and the shipment from USA to Europe, so this adds roughly 25% to a US price.
The color and the wood really looked old as I had written before, but Grot and I obviously were totally wrong on the cutaway shape!
So much to learn from Hans all the time...

Kurt, so it looks like that between the 60ties and the 70ties they changed the shape of the cutaway. Here is another roughly 1975 Starfire II that has this new "wider" cutaway shape compared to the very round 60ties shape. It's not just an optical illusion, or???

Apparently I've never seen a 70's Starfire II (or III) to know that the cutaway changed that early!

Live and learn! Isn't that what we're all here for?

My strongest recommendation is to ask permission to take a few photos (even if it is just with your phone) and post the photos here. Be as detailed as possible and be sure to get a shot of the back of the headstock and a shot of the label inside the guitar. That will lock it down. The LTG cognoscenti will chime in.
This isn't really an option since I have to travel 292 miles(470km) to have a look at the guitar.

There's been a slight change of plans and I'm going to look at it tomorrow and not on monday as I had planned initially. Hopefully there'll be an NGD on sunday and an update for you lot when I'm on my way home tomorrow.

Please keep the discussion going tho, I'm still curious as to what visual differences there are between a 70's Starfire and a 90's, 'cause I have slight trouble seeing them, but then again, I'm very much a Guild novice. :)

Update then...

Went to look at the guitar, started playing it before inspecting it and I liked the feel of it. Started inspected it and found a headstock repair.
I don't mind a broken neck that's been correctly fixed, but the fact that they didn't mention it at all makes me kind of miffed. Apart from that it looked in good condition with nicely crazed lacquer.
Part of the deal was for me to trade in another guitar for the Guild, but they offered me way too little money for my guitar and they couldn't knock the price down at all on the Guild despite the neck repair or the false information regarding year and condition of it. So I decided to pass...

I'm not gonna mention where it is, this store is known for making shady deals, and now I've seen it with my own eyes. I'll stay far away from them from now on.

The only positive thing about this whole thing is that I got to try out an older Guild, then aren't exactly common in Sweden, and it only made me more determined to get one.
Guess it's back to eBay-huntin' for a T-100D, Starfire II-III or a similar Guild.

Yep, not mentioning a little thing like having the headstock snapped off would do it for me. Starfires are common over here and there are a lot of "enablers" here who would ship a guitar to Sweden for a forum member.

I almost exclusively buy my guitars from abroad, so I have shipping adresses in the US and in Japan(my niche of expertise in guitars), to act as my own enablers
All I need now is to find one, or wait til autumn when I go to Chicago & the Twin Cities for some R & R :D

Indeed, advertising it as "Complete, good condition" without mentioning this repair is unfair. Hope that guitar was not the only reason for your long 470km roadtrip!
