So, what's this worth?

I'm not a big electric guitar guy, but lately I've been drifting there. Last year I scored a nice '66 Deluxe Reverb. Along with that came a second speaker (and a few other misc. parts). Now someone wants to buy it, and (1) I don't really know what it's worth and (2) I don't know if I should sell it.

Here's a picture of it, and it's relevant codes. It was reconed about a year ago.

I haven't tried it, but I assume it works. I am quite happy with the speaker that's in the amp now, by the way. This one just sits in a box in the closet.

Anybody have any info and/or advice?

no expert, I have just been searching for speakers lately and I've come across lots of these Fender special design speakers fairly cheap.

It's a '67 Twin Reverb speaker, rated for about 60 watts of power. Rather, it's almost a '67 Twin speaker. C12N was what they used for Twins, all right, but the extra letter in the model designation (C12N'A') means that the speaker is different from the norm in some way. Could be a small, inconsequential difference, could be a big difference.

Funny thing is, there's almost certainly no one alive who could look at the speaker and tell you what made it different from the normal model. 'Those days and those guys' are gone.....

If it's a good re-cone, those are fine sounding speakers. The suppleness of the paper is everything in re-cones, along with a good voice coil, the appropriate spider, etc.). It will sound cleaner in your Deluxe R than the original. In fact, depending on the way you play, it might sound great.

$$$-wise, it's hard to say. Everything depends on the quality of the recone. $60.00-75.00 to a friend? $100 to a stranger? Cheap enough to keep if it sounds good.

That is a Jensen from early 1967. The number 220709 is the identifier - '220' is Jensen's code, '7' is the last digit of the year, and '09' is the week of manufacture. So, it's not original to the '66 amp, but it's a good sounding speaker if it's a quality recone.

Yep, the guy wants it to go into a '67 Twin. He has one original speaker and one he wants to replace.

I use my DR mostly for recording. I just love the way it sounds with my Starfire and with my Strat.

A good or bad recone? No idea.

I wouldn't sell it.

If you did, you'd regret that someday.

An old C12N is a cool speaker. Keep it and use it!

This sounds like good advice. The speaker stays here!

Thanks, guys.
